Because rez hate dead end streets, any other intersections are not junction points to parallel roads - thus these roads get light traffic and no complaints.ĭensity of population causes traffic congestion and complaints. Because these are in the industrial area, with no impact on RZ, thus no complaints. The traffic is attracted to junction intersections this is where you'll find heaviest traffic flow. All of the roads connect only in the extreme right of the city map, my industrial area, which is critical. The roads are 4 squares apart, which makes an offset "grid pattern" of 4圆 city blocks, each capable of handling any sized bldg or park. □I use an unique road layout design for my cities, a modified parallel wave pattern comprised of road segments 6 squares long, then a one square curve, and so forth - the curves alternate up or down. The only one who stresses is the City Advisor, cuz I sure don't give roads a second thought. Someday I will upgrade my roads - when I'm done doing everything else! In the meantime, happiness is 100% in all my cities, and rez never complain about traffic. In my cities, I solved that problem by placing all my tier 3 service bldgs on their very own dead end street - no RZ whatsoever. Instead, put a park there or a specialty bldg. ▪ All f/p/h bldgs generate heavy traffic, therefore never put the entrance to an RZ directly opposite to an entrance of a f/p/h bldg. ▪ 4-way intersections cause traffic jams, so I have only 3-way intersections in my city. Any other necessary north/south roads are all dead ends in other words, they do not connect two parallel roads, but instead stop short. All roads are connected on extreme right of my city, which is predominantly my industrial area. The main traffic flow in my city is parallel roads going east/west. ▪ Sims hate dead end roads, so I have alot in my residential areas. I have spent hours observing traffic patterns and here are a few tips. I simply never put an RZ on any curve segment instead, they are reserved for parks. For me, cuz I have alot of curved segments in my roads, my red zones are generally in a curve segment, which is only one square long. The secret is to have 3 red zones in areas not impacting any RZ. The smallest city is level 18 with 127k pop. My main city is level 47 with 1.6 mill pop., in a fully expanded city map. □I have never upgraded a single road in any of my cities. I have quite a few cities, all with different layout styles, and I have never upgraded a single road in any of my cities. It's the basic principles of traffic flow that causes congestion. I used to think it was my unique road design that was the "trick," because the short curve segments attracted red zones but that is not the case.
